Our family and inspirations

Discover how Outback Pioneers started and why the Kinnon family continue to devote their winters to hosting tourists from around Australia and overseas.

Getting to Longreach

In the far central west of Queensland, we’re far enough off the beaten track to give you a real taste of the outback but surprisingly easy to reach by air, road or rail.

Discover the town

With its heritage buildings and vibrant community, Longreach is where past meets present. You’ll find all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay.

The Welcome Home

This beautifully restored building in the heritage heart of town is the hub of Outback Pioneers operations. It’s also a café and dining venue in the April-October season.

What a wonderful experience Outback Pioneers gave us. I love the way they have recreated the experiences. They are as authentic as possible, giving everyone an insight into the life of our pioneers. The story telling and yarns all add to the experience. Well done Kinnon family.

We loved all our Outback Pioneers tours – the Cobb & Co Stagecoach Experience, the Nogo Station and the cruise. By booking all three we benefited from a 10% discount with the Live-It Saver Pass. We have two kids, ten and twelve years old, and they really enjoyed every minute. Great fun for all the family!

Your professionalism and experience is an 11/10. The boys did such a great job on the sunset tour. The food is amazing. The evening was amazing. Thank you for always making us feel part of your family and the outback.
